Grad Feature: Eyes Open to Higher Education - Christina Penner

IRON SPRINGS, AB

Christina Penner is a very artistic, musical and ambitious young woman. She stands out as one of the first Huntsville students to complete the Unit Clerk dual credit program through the Lethbridge College.

Christina rejoined Huntsville School after taking a year off, she returned to complete her high school diploma.

“I was on the verge of dropping out, but now, not only have I finished high school, my eyes are open to the fact that a college education is something I can accomplish. As someone from an LGM community, going to college was very intimating, but succeeding at that program has really

boosted my confidence. Although the program was challenging, it was the most real-life learning experience that I have ever had.”

“I'm so excited about the fact that I can apply for a job in the medical field right away, but I’m also interested in going further and training as a paramedic, now that I know what I’m capable of.”

“I want to give a big thank you to all the people in my life who believed in me and supported me through this really challenging, but awesome opportunity.”
